Multimedia and Consumer Electronics

The graduates are ready to work in the professional field of telecommunications and multimedia teleinformation systems as well as modern electronic circuits and systems with different applications. In particular, they can deal with digital television, both cable and satellite, multimedia systems implemented in various communication networks, vision control systems, programming of various applications, including those regarding image and sound processing, programmable digital systems, consumer electronics systems.

Close attention is paid to gaining practical skills related to the implementation of signal processing systems and control in the programmable systems technique (FPGA). The study programme empahises good programming skills and broad education regarding rapidly developing fields of multimedia telecommunications, teleinformatics and electronics. This allows the graduate to take jobs in the field of design, manufacturing and operation of modern systems.

Wireless Communications

The study programme for this specialization aims at getting acquainted with the principles of operating and design of modern wireless communication systems, with particular attention to mobile communication systems and digital distribution systems. The students learn theoretical principles of modern digital wireless communications systems (narrowband and spread spectrum), the construction principles of antennas for radio communication systems. They also study the design and optimization principles of horizontal radio lines, mobile Communications systems such as GSM, UMTS and others, which ensure appropriate coverage area and maximum capacity. The students study also the rules for wireless access to the computer networks, modern microwave circuits and systems as well as digital integrated circuits, applied in radio communication systems, and their design methods. They get familiar with the operating rules of communications networks with radio transmission methods.

Computer Networks and Internet Technologies

The specialization is addressed to the students interested in modern teleinformatics technologies. The students receive in-depth knowledge and practical skills In the area of design, constructing as well as modernisation and management of computer networks, both Local Area Networks used in enterprises and Wide Area Networks built on the basis of IP protocol.

This specialization programme enables the student to deal with specific problems of developing the network infrastructure ulitised in advanced information (computer) systems in and different network services, and also in the techniques of developing modern network services. Particular attention is focused on elements of traffic engineering as well as modeling, optimization and design of network systems.

Lectures, lab classes and projects give the students knowledge and skills regarding, amongst others, the following problems: equipment and technologies applied in LAN, MAN, and WAN networks; communication protocols; cable standards; Internet technologies and services; problems related to traffic engineering and design and analysis of packet networks; computer networks management standards; network integration techniques; modern information transport networks; modern network services, including mobile network services; information security in computer networks; tools and applications for information presentation in the network. The students receive comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in network design and management, in the operation of network equipment.

Telecommunication Systems

This specialization programme makes the students familiar with the operation and design of modern digital telecommunication systems, in particular with digital modulation techniques, signal transmission in various wired and wireless channels, the structures of transmitters and receivers, especially for fiber optical systems and mobile communications. The graduate can apply modern microprocessor and DSP techniques, including signal processors and electronic integrated circuits, for implementing particular blocks of telecommunication systems. The graduate can smoothly apply computer technology in professional work.
