The Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications offers authorized training within the framework of course repository of Cisco Networking Academy, by Cisco Systems.

Cisco Systems company, collaborating with government and educational bodies worldwide, took concrete actions aimed to fix up the deficiency of network professionals on the labour market. In 1997 a special programme – Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) – was implemented; its aim was to disseminate theoretical knowledge and practical skills relating to computer networks.

The programme is organised in 7 semesters. In the first 4 semesters the CNAP participants gain knowledge and experience necessary to get the CCNA certificate. The other 3 semesters enable the students to prepare for the CCNP exams. The highest level of Cisco professional certificates is represented by CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert) certificates, which up to date are not included in our Networking Academy programme.

Training within the CNAP programme are very popular: over 10,000 education centres in 152 countries educate currently more than 469,000 future professionals.

The present Internet revolution causes changes in the educational methods. Knowledge cannot be acquired any more without access to Internet-available information.

The Cisco Networking Academy educational programme reflects the current trends and is run by educational institutions. Knowledge is transmitted via different teaching techniques. Apart from traditional lectures and classes, the Academy offers numerous laboratory classes, where the students can solve real problems, having a whole set of Internet and multimedia methods and tools at their disposal for self-training.

The Cisco Network Academy programme is constantly updated, in view of providing the state-of-the-art knowledge. At the same time, the programme assumes continuous contacts between Cisco and the academies running the courses. Such mutual communication enables (allows) programme updating, depending on the needs of recipients and the requirements of the labour market.
